What does a day mean?

It is the end of my working day, and with the excitement of a child whose parent has woken from their night shift slumber and received a nod, they can go out to play. I switch my monitor screens from my work laptop to my personal.

As I do, I think about my day and all the things I did and didn’t accomplish.

I think about the question of this day’s sunset and how we choose and surrender what to carry into the next.

I think about how a day represents a distinct unit of time that we all march to, governing our lives like the beat of a drum.

What does a day mean to me?

Is a question that reoccurs again and again, and I count myself fortunate that I have had many and, like most, wish for many, many more.

The Days We Leave Behind Us

With more days behind me than perhaps I will ever know, I remember the days I have been bored and the days I have taken for granted.

Conversely, I consider the days where I have been industrious and achieved all I hoped for and so much more, and I…
