Conspiratory racism! We need more people to call this out as you have done in your article. It is disheartening to read but by open dialogue and education, we can change.

For some people, I would like to be generous and think that it is a lack of courage and fear of standing out that drives this poor behaviour.

I often think about the phrase, “Privilege is blind”, which is true at many levels for all forms where intolerance is shown, be it racism, sexism, homophobia etc.. I think you have to remind yourself to think outside your own experiences and appreciate other peoples perspectives.
