Despite the Pain and Disappointments — This Is How I Continue to Creative Write

With self-knowledge and acceptance, successful writing becomes easier

So here I am one week later, and I am still tinkering, tending to a draft about a recent disappointment I started in the heat of inspiration. I wish I could say in that time. I revisited and remained focused as thoughts flowed like a steady download from my mind through to my fingers and keyboard. But no, that is not how my writing experience goes.

Perhaps it’s time I admit I can be a slow reader and writer at times, easily distracted, not always in the mood and able to sit in front of my computer and give my stories the attention and focus they deserve.

I think of myself as an intuitive writer, so I need to be relaxed and channel my thoughts. But I know deep down how I write is one of many factors; it is not the main reason my reading and writing can be stifled.

My main line of work, family and life all play their role in testing my resilience and commitment to writing. But still, it does not stop me from dreaming of a time when I can one day wake up, power through my morning routine, settle down to…
