Dopamine is the guilty child of the pleasure we so often seek and it is exactly as you say, ok in moderation until we have to too much.
I know if I am not careful there are days when sugar for me is exactly that, but then it is hidden in so much of what we eat.
I guess the first challenge is being aware and then finding what works. Replacement / substitution with something healthier still gives the reward and can sometimes work.
