Imperfect Soil

We have a duty
to be, at any moment,
the best version of ourselves.
But sometimes we fall short —
and maybe that’s okay.
There’s no harm in trying —
not all soil is fertile.
Still,
if we know all good things
grow when nurtured
with care and attention,
a sprinkling of good intentions,
and a daily breath of compassion.

We will see how green-fingered we become.
