I think the answer is yes depending on your values and as you stated in your essay, it centers around understanding your boundaries.

I personally think a lot of confusion arises around a lack of understanding of the types of love that exist.

I also recognise and value your statement around, "valuing my autonomy, and to center my own needs and wants." To me that is always personal choice and important and as long as it does not harm anyone, why not.
