This we know, and yet
No one wants to be a fraction
and yet it is funny
how we divide ourselves again and again
Living with the parts we only want to see
Settling for a denominator
too small for who we truly are
Maybe it is because we know
to be a whole number
we need to accept the sides we often neglect
There is a dividing duality in both you and me
No matter how much we try to deny
Because we cannot see the light without the dark
Good cannot exist without evil

Psychology says, at some level
we all want to be loved and respected
