Love in its many forms Is

A non-Shakespearian sonnet

Each day I try harder to understand
Elusive and shape-shifting it may be
The love I prescribe between you and me
Love is a mystery by description

Four letters with a variance of types
Who is to say, who is wrong, who is right
Be affection, attraction or desire
Love takes many forms to which we aspire

Some days I have an abundance to give
Others days I want to be reminded
What we share is so powerful even
Temptation will know it will never shake

So although I know I can’t describe love
I choose always — live in the presence of

Many thanks to Caroline de Braganza who inspired and challenged me to write my first Sonnet, having read her wonderful first attempt, Why I Wrote a Sonnet — For Rhythm and Reason.

This was a challenge that really stretched. I fear I may have broken some rules with the rhythming and no Iambic Pentameter, but hey it’s my first attempt!
