Love in Unexpected Moments

Weathering Storms

So it is Friday night, and in the midst of our nightly ritual, my wife and I exchanged the realisation we had no reason to be up early on Saturday morning.

There were no drumming lessons for my youngest, no early morning starts for my eldest, who, despite his best efforts to creep down the stairs quietly and get his stuff together, almost always wakes me up.

With no places to be in the morning and no appointments, I joked with wifey that the only reason that we might be up would be because of Darla, our dog.

Darla is used to her early morning walks and is always eager to meet and greet other neighbourhood dogs and their owners.

I, on the other hand, sit at the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to morning greets.

Sometimes, I am half asleep and prefer quiet walks with little to no polite conversations, especially if they involve the weather! But then again, we do live in the United Kingdom, and there is always something to say about the weather.

Still, I am a self-confessed and practising grumpy man who enjoys periods of solitude.

Darla, on the other hand, likes to meet and greet, and if we don’t see anyone on a morning, I am pretty sure she lets me know by walking the last stretch…
