Have you ever noticed when complex organisms, such as we or more simpler bodies of water, are static, that’s when stagnation and complications occur?

Perhaps, there is something in that, unless you are a tree — movement is the secret to our vitality and well-being.

Be it our thoughts, feelings, or physical bodies, movement is core to allowing what’s happening to flow around and through you.

Feelings that stagnate or the recognition of my lack of movement form the backbone of May’s learning and retrospective and I remember as I write this, that even trees move with the breeze.

Movement, Running & More

Last month, in my poem All The Places I Have Run, I wrote about my relationship with running, focusing on the positive and recognising how it has been my backbone and saviour.

But in this listical poem, I did not speak of a different reality or my love-hate relationship.

I did not exorcise my times through injury and how it can alter your perception of time.

I did not relay the times when running felt more like a penance and the sentence to run…
