Oh knees, please, please!

When you know you have not been blessed with the bee’s knees

Oh knees, knees, please
Why have you forsaken me
We’ve been together since birth
travelled the world and thankfully
you have supported my widening girth

But now when I need you the most — you just hurt
I know no more kneeling or squats for me
Oh how I wish, I listened when I was younger
I would have done more to keep you healthy!

Each morning I wake, we are at best
Maybe a little stiff, but thankful for the rest
As the day goes you seem to tire
Those halcyon days truly have expired
Occasionally you buckle under the strain
It seems these days we are only connected by pain

I know you are a complicated joint
Stabilised my muscles, ligaments and tendons
to some point
But now things have gone wrong
I know you are doing your best
But I swear it…
