Start Trek certainly did have a lasting impact on me as well. It spoke well for its time. I love that you gave a rounded view, acknowledging somethings that it did not get right.

Still to this day I marvel at how now you can almost map some of the technology that first appeared to what we have now. Admittedly we have no warp speed or transporters but we do have our communicators and are getting closer to universal translators.
