Stop with, “Not my problem!”

A RACI caution for not taking ownership.

Let's face it if we care to admit some of us have been here. Either we have said or behaved in this fashion or worst still we have been on the receiving end.

When it’s something trivial it’s no big deal but when it’s something bigger and important the attitude of not my problem is not what you want to hear and certainly not something you appreciate. This is a cautionary poem for when no one takes ownership and we say or behave as if it is, “Not my problem”.

Inspired by a Responsibility assignment matrix or RACI for short. The matrix describes the various roles for completing a task or deliverable. The acronym is derived from Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed. Sometimes even though one may exist, things still go drastically wrong. Below is take on perhaps why.

When Accountability won’t take ownership,
Responsibility is lost.
Not my problem will take the forefront
and apathy will make no fuss!

Blame loves to lurk in the shadows
always dressed and ready to parade
You know she can be called upon
to keep up the charade
