Thank you Cara, for explaining very well why we should be mindful of the "minority" label. I too on some levels had accepted the normalized term but was always uncomfortable about the implied meaning. Until now I had not thought too deeply about rejecting the term and seeking an alternative. I feel now I can or at least be mindful of where and how it is used.
Your article reminds me of the dangers of two common practices which we can easily fall into when we don't think. Generalising and oversimplifying. When in reality we are all complex and sum of our intersections. Very well said with the point you make about the compound effect. It is so very real and often goes unnoticed, unless you are on the receiving end.
