Why Chocolate Cake Is Always Good to Chase the Birthday Blues Away

Even if it only lasts for a few moments

When I sat down in front of my computer screen, I didn’t think I would find myself writing about comfort eating, but the feelings associated with chocolate cake on a cold, wet Monday afternoon in December are strong enough for me to recognise I need to.

The writer in me knows writing is good not only for myself but for others who may be experiencing the same. So here goes another chocolate bite later, and I am typing away in front of my computer alone.

Oh yes, in the interest of sharing, below is the cake I am steadily eating to honour the mood, chocolate buttons and all.

You can’t have your cake and eat it

Oh, but today I think I can, and besides, I am climbing out of the other side of what I would describe as the birthday blues. For the last three to four days, I have found myself feeling low, despite the fact I have plenty to feel appreciative of. I didn’t think I would feel this way, but as we often know, low moods have a funny way of sneaking up on you, pulling you down…
